<span style="color: #fce5cd;">As you can see by the date of my last post, blogging has been too much of a hassle. So, I just discovered I can send blog posts from my email account or my mobile phone. (supposedly) I'm having trouble setting up the phone, but will try again later. This post is being sent from my email. I'll attach a random photo to see how well it works. Here goes...</span></div>

Really, I'll try harder to blog more often in 2011.<br /><br />I did finish the cactus cross-stitch project I last wrote about. It is framed and wrapped for a special person for Christmas. :) I've also finished 2 pair of knitted mittens and will finish a hat today for my last gift I need. Of course, I forgot to take pictures of the cross-stitch and the mittens. I'll get photos after the gifts are open and post them here.<br /><br />I wish you all a very special Christmas and a wonderful New Year!!!</span>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10869427826475863584noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3479151121796222850.post-91694914884096172522010-05-20T14:55:00.000-05:002011-11-09T18:06:56.878-06:00Cross-stitchin' again!<div>
<div>
<div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="color: #fce5cd; font-size: 130%;">I go through stages with my hobbies. I seem to get fired up about one craft at a time. I had been on a knit kick for the past year or so. I woke up a couple weeks ago thinking about counted cross-stitch for the first time in years. My youngest is 5 1/2. I think I tried to cross-stitch once when she was a baby. Having to set it aside every couple stitches to tend to her kind of put me off.<br /><br />Anyway, now that she's older, I pulled out a WIP and saw that it was almost finished. I excitedly started stitching again. Now all that's left is the back-stitching. I don't hate that part like so many other stitchers. It really brings the work to life, and it goes much quicker than the cross-stitching.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #fce5cd; font-size: 130%;">Here is a picture of the project:</span></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #99ff99; font-size: 130%;"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473445549671652162" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw-FTTB5AUqTvK3zACfXdWfqitqkaHebxBABbusNAnzCAg3UlNK9kVS3p5RaS0eVXk_iGuL_t3LzKOtGLGscaDqkG0rbzdScrjXrZpboPd6KO1V8zf4VtOVdVmJTkTUxuWcsxTVtfdwKI/s400/P5200019.JPG" style="display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473445556648032578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSV2H9o5fIZnyFgPlXOaMTb5TzgGnRXoOCKB-gM8b9GYMmQDbN7NxHHnbwh11D7IZx-jawKEUJyvwTnhTAFk_P-WIP27InYUYY6FKM5w3x__BTV8-tj-AwkZF7lOqRixbqhyjXdmvjQoU/s400/P5200029.JPG" style="display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></span><br />
<span style="color: #fce5cd; font-size: 130%;">The second photo is from the book. It was hard to get a good picture w/o glare.</span><br />
<span style="color: #fce5cd; font-size: 130%;">I ordered my next project online, but made myself finish stitching the cactus project before starting the new one. Here it is:</span><br />
<span style="color: #99ff99; font-size: 130%;"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473447178671555826" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNKq51LAxEN7YzUKE5wI7CJL5T-71GTJdAW62ENlDJQBQ6jYPEHZtGk_rY0JjDjyx12oLEVxsmXkjA9TH5gVTPb2wXF-8e4S3n-kWwoOznV_mkFe5gRhBLdxZumoWdoH0ZEZgr7ylM3Ec/s400/P5200023.JPG" style="display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /><br /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473447186384035074" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxX8KBbQrMa9LSOKdPLXMzSWykdQaokezKnmyBg9yWpqpGOV8dPvbxI1VD_XNZ2eYL_fXLOqLLeSEJTqa6nZVQPEcr_sKAJJp8d0Z7iHv60x5Wd5atfLEAwS4C4mh6z4SO38ErTemBtY/s400/P5200021.JPG" style="display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /> <span style="color: #fce5cd;">I love the colors in this. I can't wait to see it progress.<br /></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #fce5cd; font-size: 130%;">Then, like any newly re-obsessed stitcher, I looked through my stash and dug out another WIP.</span><br />

Heck, even businesses are closing for the day. People freak out here when we get a couple inches of snow. Seattle got 2 inches and the news stayed on ABC, CBS and NBC for 5 hours straight giving minute-by-minute updates. I grew up in Ohio and we had to have a foot of snow before school would close! Granted, Wahington is definitely not flat like Ohio, so driving in snow is more treacherous, but <em>still</em>!</span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0QvctxyEJDS5GoKgcErQMN-nR7sA3S9shmfMzLmewrgdyprNJr95J__KFMDqtU59tjtk7jLX-lhaUgwI_nQG1nNymgeES7W2j7FKWchyphenhyphenXm-ZT9QLHil2WegSYhfJCy5t2uprcJgg5Cj0/s1600-h/DSCF0003.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281265371771675602" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0QvctxyEJDS5GoKgcErQMN-nR7sA3S9shmfMzLmewrgdyprNJr95J__KFMDqtU59tjtk7jLX-lhaUgwI_nQG1nNymgeES7W2j7FKWchyphenhyphenXm-ZT9QLHil2WegSYhfJCy5t2uprcJgg5Cj0/s320/DSCF0003.JPG" border="0" /></a> <span style="color:#33ccff;">View from my back deck this morning. </span><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IBQNVcN4OKAFqZicn1BAuA003aPC95XYd9CZYkmpOoN-wizYwtJ4jGXPlcvPCNgOqa783VEz-BNv62-8zqKJ5U1I4ZPDLjyXeMsIz6KQXBQy8i6eIB5BbTosbLfV5qSYjOAdB5BClY4/s1600-h/DSCF0008.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281265364210590290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IBQNVcN4OKAFqZicn1BAuA003aPC95XYd9CZYkmpOoN-wizYwtJ4jGXPlcvPCNgOqa783VEz-BNv62-8zqKJ5U1I4ZPDLjyXeMsIz6KQXBQy8i6eIB5BbTosbLfV5qSYjOAdB5BClY4/s320/DSCF0008.JPG" border="0" /></a> <span style="color:#33ccff;">My front steps leading up to the road.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK20e6WcY5_f9ZwuQqK31sFo-Fdzkelj1G_fBR-hBEFOvgxRfIhKhBFej86K_Jv8zhwDMDEF7cgvL7Fh4BSQ-fhXdGkpuZDcEHHp36JBBUV7ifv9-Y3e7_e-dPJAiZAIhk9Gl1ZRFYY0s/s1600-h/DSCF0002.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281265359740215714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK20e6WcY5_f9ZwuQqK31sFo-Fdzkelj1G_fBR-hBEFOvgxRfIhKhBFej86K_Jv8zhwDMDEF7cgvL7Fh4BSQ-fhXdGkpuZDcEHHp36JBBUV7ifv9-Y3e7_e-dPJAiZAIhk9Gl1ZRFYY0s/s320/DSCF0002.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="color:#33ccff;">I hope everyone is staying warm and toasty. I think it turned our really cool, if you ask me. </span><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUY0uOqINEImzc-pRGg9fKW1lhoN_-k4Z_U5kOfSl57nwwcZ0Ly0Mp-aLWMyceWEIaqSgtJ2RQfvYwW__J223k9XCyd-vDlRKrnNKvn4y7LYvL6wjPorvzz28Zic6cMSdaqp5uUA3ADDo/s1600-h/DSCF0020.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266050463392013314" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUY0uOqINEImzc-pRGg9fKW1lhoN_-k4Z_U5kOfSl57nwwcZ0Ly0Mp-aLWMyceWEIaqSgtJ2RQfvYwW__J223k9XCyd-vDlRKrnNKvn4y7LYvL6wjPorvzz28Zic6cMSdaqp5uUA3ADDo/s320/DSCF0020.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><div></div><div><span style="font-size:130%;color:#ccccff;">This one is most likely for a purse exchange on that same Yahoo group. (Visiting Teesha Moore's site does that to me.) I like to paint the background with cheap acrylics or water colors, then glue in interesting/weird/ pretty images I find in magazines and old books. Then I take my Caran D'Ache Neo Color II water soluble crayons (say <em><strong>tha</strong>t</em> 3 times fast!) and Le Plume II markers and add details.</span></div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264722245611689650" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 218px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkJED-h3uCGhPHRXiiQWBPuLqAfA4JwYM2r_RQKWphm754u-dvPMefn8Pn-BZ8HDmaDIrS5wJlzV_PvOZpu6Z5-_2rcl52a2AzrAuuYB2vxTtjlCQ6OzmWRV6BWqAyXslNSfUgYnwX_n8/s320/scan0002.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div><span style="font-size:130%;color:#cc66cc;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264535645392021122" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 218px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUY7oNJ6ncZf6Uk8pXYzGrZJ8DSGOQ0MG4H1hVba_pIKm3gRP2qnTS8oIVnV79LWQyJz_dQOaRlyqqc3Ixnybhd354Re94mJfKTUwOzXZgbIlWwI5ktspxpUbENJ0em7g0Z1gyOiN3N2s/s320/scan0001.jpg" border="0" /> </span><br /><span style="font-size:130%;color:#cc66cc;">I like to create a few pages ahead of time so they're ready for me to add journaling later. We had gone to four houses so far on our Trick-or-Treat journey. The lady in house #5 had it all decked out with scary things. Turns out those scary things were all voice activated and when I told Jess to ring the door bell, they all started screaming, booing, hissing, screeching and wailing. It scared the pee out of her! The lady felt so bad for scaring her, that she gave her 2 big handfuls of candy. She asked "Is that enough to make it up to you?" Jessie said quietly "I want some more." She laughed and gave her two more handfuls. So we were done! Jessie wanted to go home after being so scared and she had enough candy that I didn't feel guilty about it.
