Can I have it?

This hat was supposed to be a Christmas gift for Jess. She saw me knitting it and asked if it could be her hat. I fibbed and told her it was for someone else. With the saddest baby blues, she quietly said, "All your knitting is for someone else all the time." That was it. I plopped it on her head and said she could have it.

Time to blow the dust off this thing

So, it's been a while. No excuses, just carry on! I made this cute little amulet bag today. It was so fun to make! I'll definitely make more of these. I'll edit this post later to add a link to the pattern I used. It was the first time I added beads to a crochet project. I'm hooked! Tomorrow I'm off to Michaels to get more beads. So check back soon and I'll post more pictures. I'll try not to wait 4 months to do it. ;)

I am knitting these scarves for my lovely nieces. They are very belated Christmas gifts. Spring is coming. *sigh* I guess they can hang them on the wall and look at them until winter rears it's ugly head again.
M. attends Ohio State University so the proud Buckeye wanted her school colors.

T. wanted kelly green.

Signs of LIFE!

My weeping willow has buds! Yay! Signs of life are drowning out the long winter.
Since I took this photo, the purple crocuses have sprung, too. Why do the yellow ones always bloom first? I don't care. Spring is coming!!!!!!

This little piggy...

I couldn't help myself. I had an empty cage since we no longer have the pet rats. I saw these two little girls and had to bring them home.

This one is tentatively named Lucy. She has red hair like Lucille Ball.
edit 3/3/09: we decided to name her Murphy. A good Irish name to go with the red hair. My daughter reminded me that our neighbor had a dog named Lucy that died last year. Lucy was vetoed.

This one is Squeee. That's the sound she makes when you pick her up.

Lucy is a bit older, but still very young. Squeee is just a baby. I brought Jessie's wading pool in the house for them to play in while I'm able to supervise. Jessie just loves "her" babies and can hardly leave them alone.

Lucy is in Jessie's pant leg in this photo. Nothing like a guinea pig in your pants to give you the giggles!

Walk-about

We recently went for a walk at the Thelar Wetlands on a not-too-cold day.

We walk here quite a bit in the warm months. We regularly spot blue herons, bald eagles, and a variety of smaller birds.
