Is it Spring yet????

My back yard with 9" of snow. (at 3 pm) We have 13" right now. (8:30 pm)

Looking up my road. We're supposed to get 4 to 8 more inches tonight.

My girls in our driveway. I am supposed to pick up my husband tomorrow IF his flight comes in. Color me panicky! If not for a nice glass of merlot I would be climbing the walls right now!
Wish I had a friend with a snow plow!
If my husband comes home tomorrow, I won't be here. If he doesn't, I'll be depressed and you won't want me here. So, let me wish you all a very merry Christmas!!! Hope all your wishes come true!

Snow Day!

No school today for Casey! Heck, even businesses are closing for the day. People freak out here when we get a couple inches of snow. Seattle got 2 inches and the news stayed on ABC, CBS and NBC for 5 hours straight giving minute-by-minute updates. I grew up in Ohio and we had to have a foot of snow before school would close! Granted, Wahington is definitely not flat like Ohio, so driving in snow is more treacherous, but still! View from my back deck this morning.

My front steps leading up to the road.

I hope everyone is staying warm and toasty. I'm staying in and knitting fingerless gloves and mittens!

Makes a mother proud!

Look what my baby is doing. Jess sees me playing in my art journal all the time and wanted one of her own. I gave her a composition book and she started gluing pictures from magazines in her journal. Next she was adding paint, just like mama. My heart swells with pride! My girl will be crocheting and knitting before you know it!

This is a gorgeous sunrise I happened to catch a couple days ago. Who knew 7:00 a.m. could be so beautiful?

Bags! Bags! Bags!

This Autumn Tote Bag is crocheted and felted. I think I'll send it in a secret buddy package for a crochet group on Yahoo.

I call this one Purple Passion Bobbles. It is also crocheted and felted. To make the bobbles so prominent, I put marbles in place with rubber bands before the felting process, then remove the marbles after. (see the photo below) I got the idea from the book "Knitting Never Felt Better" by Nicky Epstein. I think it turned our really cool, if you ask me.

This one is most likely for a purse exchange on that same Yahoo group. I will definitely make more bags like this one!

Paper bag book

This is a paper bag book I made for a friend who needed a smile.

The last 4 photos are fronts and backs of three tags that went in the pockets that the open ends of the lunch bags produced.

Here is a page from my "Say Anything" art journal. Its about 2 years old, but I still get so many comments on it, I decided to post it here. (with a wee suggestion from Leanne) Such a simple page that speaks to so many people! This and other pages from that journal are on my picturetrail site. (see link at right)

Playin' with my journal

I've been regaining interest in my journal lately. (Visiting Teesha Moore's site does that to me.) I like to paint the background with cheap acrylics or water colors, then glue in interesting/weird/ pretty images I find in magazines and old books. Then I take my Caran D'Ache Neo Color II water soluble crayons (say that 3 times fast!) and Le Plume II markers and add details.

I like to create a few pages ahead of time so they're ready for me to add journaling later. Here are two of my favorite pages I've done recently. They don't always turn out the way I want them to. I'll spare you from having to see my fugly pages. :)
If you look on the right (under Links) you can click-n-go to my picturetrail site. Thats where I have past photos of journals, altered books, ATCs, cards, etc.

Wanna see my photos?

If you look on the right side under "Links" you can click on "see my photos" to get to my Flickr site. You'll see my family and my crochet stuff. I'll do my best to update the pictures regularly. Send me a nudge if I start slackin'.

Here we go!

Well, I've done it. After reading other blogs and wondering if I had anything to contribute, I've jumped right in. So far the water's fine. I just hope I don't disappoint the folks who take the time to visit here.
Since last night was Halloween, I think I'll start easy and show you my little one. We had gone to four houses so far on our Trick-or-Treat journey. The lady in house #5 had it all decked out with scary things. Turns out those scary things were all voice activated and when I told Jess to ring the door bell, they all started screaming, booing, hissing, screeching and wailing. It scared the pee out of her! The lady felt so bad for scaring her, that she gave her 2 big handfuls of candy. She asked "Is that enough to make it up to you?" Jessie said quietly "I want some more." She laughed and gave her two more handfuls. So we were done! Jessie wanted to go home after being so scared and she had enough candy that I didn't feel guilty about it. Win-win!
It was the foggiest night of the year! Not so good for visibility, but great for a spooky night.
